FIRST SATURDAYS OF THE MONTH – the devotion rewarding the Immaculate Heart of Mary
THE FIRST PART OF THE MYSTERY OF FATIMA
On July 13, 1917, Our Lady of Fatima appeared to Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia. She then showed them a vision of hell and then said:
“You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. In order to save them, God wants to spread devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world… To prevent this (going to hell) I will come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and for Holy Communion rewarding on the first Saturdays.”
St. John Paul II consecrated the world on March 25, 1984 in Rome.
And each of us is responsible for fulfilling the second part of the request of Our Lady of Fatima – rewarding the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the first Saturdays of the month.
THE SECOND PART OF THE SECRET OF FATIM
December 10, 1925 in Pontevedra, Mary with the Child appeared to Sister Lucia and showed her a heart surrounded by thorns. Seven years after the end of the Fatima apparitions, Our Lady allowed Sister Lucia to reveal the content of the second secret of Fatima. Its subject was devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Mary said to Sister Lucia:
“My daughter, look, my Heart is surrounded by thorns, which ungrateful people constantly hurt through blasphemies and ingratitude. At least you try to bring me joy and announce in my name that at the hour of death I will come with the graces needed for salvation to all those who for five months on the first Saturdays will make confession, receive Holy Communion, say one rosary and spend fifteen minutes meditating on with the mysteries of the rosary will accompany me for the intention of reparation.“
For the first 5 Saturdays of the month it belongs:
- Go to confession (be in a state of sanctifying grace),
- Receive Holy Communion,
- Say part of the Rosary,
- Accompany Mary for 15 minutes, meditating on one or more rosary mysteries.
REMEMBER! The intention of making reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary should be aroused.
Why Five Reward Saturdays?
“My daughter,” said Jesus to Sister Lucia, “there are five kinds of insults with which the Immaculate Heart of Mary is offended:
- Insults against the Immaculate Conception,
- Against Her Virginity,
- Against Her Divine Maternity,
- Insults by which indifference, contempt and even hatred towards the Immaculate Mother are sought to be inculcated in the hearts of children,
- Blasphemies that insult Mary in her holy images.
